How we research

Sources, in order

  1. Federal regulation: 49 CFR Part 393 Subpart I (cargo securement), quoted by section.
  2. Industry standard: WSTDA T-1 for synthetic web tie-downs (3:1 design factor, inspection and removal criteria), as published by WSTDA and restated by manufacturers.
  3. Manufacturer specifications and instructions from the brand's own site, then the product listing, with the date read.
  4. State unsecured-load statutes, quoted from the state code.

Spec-based reviews

We do not pull straps to failure or claim mileage with a product. A review explains the published working load limit and break strength, the hook type and what it fits, the length and width and what loads that suits, and how it compares with alternatives on the same specs. If a spec is missing or inconsistent across a listing, we say so rather than guess.

Dates and corrections

Each guide shows when it was last updated. Specs and regulations change; tell us at contact and we post fixes on the corrections page.
